Automatic ShutDown Mac and Pc

If you are a Windows user, the solution concern in a small free application simply called Shutter, it's a very usefull software to schedule in a certain time some kind of operations like turning off your pc, reboot, wake up and so on. It all works thanks to a countdown system, and if you are away from home, and your pc is online, you can remtotely access to these functions too. This small app is available in English language, very user friendly, so easy to use and install, and most of all it's Free.
Theese functions can be triggered in several ways, the most common is because of a countdown that you properly set before, but it can be useful to set the auto-shutdown after a window or a process termination, or when your computer is inactive for too long, or when the battery of your laptop is going to be exhausted, or even when there is a low CPU usage; you can also use all these scheduling criteria and much more with Shutter. Mac Automatic Shutdown


Now that we've told how Shutter works, let's talk about Mac users. For them it's not necessary to install a new application, because they just have everything they need, already built in the operating system (like lots of other stuff). So the procedure is extremely easy, a Mac user simply open the Energy Saver option from System Preferences, click on the schedule button, and set everything he needs. There is nothing to explain, you just do it. But if you want to see with your eyes you can watch the YouTube video embedded in this post, it's true, it's in Italian, but there are subtitles available in English too. To make it remotely, we can use the screen sharing feature, built in Snow Leopard and iChat that can be very helpful not only to shutdown your Mac.
